2-032 Everyone but me is yellow
After you went through a break up… you probably only saw happy couples.
Building Lego castles
In the back of the park is the new Lego Cinderella-castle. At this moment it wasn’t completely done yet. My daughter build it together with me and we worked on it for a few weeks. She learned a lot from that build (and I did too btw). It’s a great build, with lots of nice details and very cool unexpected techniques. I was proud of her too. The only thing I did was give her the pieces and she build the whole thing by herself.
I still remember getting the yellow castle as a kid, I got it from my ant and uncle. I could go the the toy-store with them and choose it myself (I’m surprised that a choose such an expensive gift, but hey, what did I know back then). I also remember that my nephew also was very interested in the build, and I had some trouble getting to build it for myself haha.
I liked the castle, but it didn’t stay a castle for long. I mostly build my own stuff and sometimes rebuild the originals only to check if all the blocks were still accounted for.
So, as a little kid, did you play with the official build, or did you mostly construct your own fantasy-builds?

I played with official sets (mostly vehicles) but also construct my own buildings for backgrounds or scenery. I used to lose the building instructions a lot so that was hard for me to build them again LOL.
You have to give Fronkenbricks some credit… His son/creature able to feel/think/wish/have feelings. Still acting like a complete jerk though…
Glad to see Betty and Albert making a guest star appearance! 😉
How could you lose the building instructions! 😯
Fronkenbrick may act like a jerk, but to me that’s not so interesting. I believe he really wants to help Dwaas, but is hindered by poor judgement… still, this judgement originated from something, the question is what.
Good to see Betty and Albert happy, isn’t it 😀
I second that. I remember some of my favorite vehicles (the space shuttle #1682 and the rescue plane #6356 in particular). I had a bunch of the space vehicles and Robin Hood/castle stuff, too (I loved #6054). After my first set, which I got for Christmas in 1984 (the “Basic Building Set 1954”), I mostly remember getting official sets and not large collections of random bricks. disassembled models would become new buildings or space ships, but for the most part, they didn’t stay together long. Toward the end, on the eve of my Dark Age, I was really into the Pirates. I had a pirate ship and a bunch of the British and French soldiers. I was always a history buff, so the medieval and 18th century stuff was right up my alley.
I would usually try to put myself into my stories. The minifig I made “me” waaaay back when I got that first set remained the “me” in my games until I dug out my old bricks and started making my comic strip a few years ago. I made little minifigs for my family members back then, too (and I still have them), but the more versatile faces and hair and torsos today allow for a better emulation of a real person’s distinctive features so everyone who appears in my comic has received an update. My family and friends get a kick out of seeing themselves in my comic stories.
That’s a nice idea, putting family and friends into the stories. I haven’t done that, but it sounds like fun.
I didn’t have a “me” in Lego. I did have a special minifig ( https://foolishbricks.com/?p=5651 ) that I would carry around everywhere.
Looking forward to your guest-comic on BoTD! So now two out of three of my favorite comics in the sidebar are yours 😀
All of the characters in my brick comic (pantsquest.wordpress.com) all represent a tiny part of me.
Good point too. After being done with my 365’s I realised many of the characters were a part of me (or what I wished to be), and the comics are partly showing the same. I might write a blogpost on that someday.
What pieces are the scotty dog and the toddler? I haven’t seen them before.
The dog is from the latest minifigure series ( https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UOYtdlTi780/V51hapLYlUI/AAAAAAAAxqE/s8qQw1OyO1grpnXrv4nJwlUg02pIgveNACLcB/s1600/PhotoScan.jpg )
The toddler is a new piece, also in the minifig series, but this one is from the fun in the park set ( http://brickreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/funinthepark01-800×445.jpg )
I want to give poor Dwaas a hug … 🙁
I love the little details you incorporate in the scene, like the birds flocking around the grandparents, and the baby toddling toward the dog … too cute, and awesome touches that bring life to the scene.
Thank you Darrel! And welcome to Foolish Lego 🙂
I’m happy to hear this, because I wasn’t to happy with this particular scene, it fell a little flat for me (probably because of the lighting… again), but reading your comment makes me realise the scene works as intended.
Oh, and I feel for Dwaas too. It’s time for him to find the way up!
I usually build the instructions initially, but after it breaks I don’t bother to rebuild, and I put it in my big bucket of loose bricks. (Slightly alliterative. Thank you. Thank you.)
Ah! I a little jealous of you! I wish I could do that. I’m sort of neurotic about keeping sets together. That’s quiet difficult sometimes.
