2-084 Good things in life
Finally, something positive might be coming up 🙂
Story pacing
One of the things i find difficult is keeping the correct pace in this story. On the one hand I don’t want it moving too fast, and of course I don’t want to drag it. There are (Lego) comics out there whose authors drag every little thing for a complete episode. Whilst this might work for that particular comic, it probably wouldn’t work for this one. The first comic, in hindsight moved a little too fast. That was because I had no idea where I was going. This one, in my personal opinion, is moving slower, but at a descent pace (with only a few redundant episodes I believe). And talking about pace; take for example today’s last panel. I could’ve easily made a complete episode of that one panel, each panel displaying one of the text-balloons while zooming in on her face. That would’ve achieved some tension maybe. Tension that I feel is not necessary for fear of a letdown in the reveal of the next episode. The cliffhanger is enough this time. A reveal that might already been known to you as a regular reader of this comic 😉 . So… what good thing might have happened to her you think?

That is a tricky thing I, admittedly, struggle with myself. I find that faster is better than slower (for keeping audience attention), especially when you’re talking about extended conversations rather than extended action.
Excellent! I didn’t realise the difference between extended conversation and extended action. In general, I agree. Yet, I believe it isn’t black and white (as always 😉 )
I’ll guess we all struggle with the ins and outs of story telling… More or less. That’s what I like in this challenge though.
Finding the good balance in everything, especially when you know where the story is supposed to bring you… Because let’s face it… Only the writer has a clue about the pace because he knows where he is going (well most of the time).
Trying to correct the pace of a story without readers noticing is also a big challenge once the writer realized it’s not as good as he hoped.
IMO it’s not just about the pace, it’s about does everything fits the story and should I keep everything I like as the writer. Definitely the biggest challenge.
